The Management Council, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Department of Job and Family services, and Ohio’s Information Technology Centers, is pleased to share that the USDA has extended the Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) program through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

The P-EBT program provides PreK-12 students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Among other requirements, the student’s school must participate in NSLP for the student to be eligible.
Students began receiving P-EBT benefits last spring when the pandemic first began. For students to continue to receive their benefit, schools participating in the NSLP will continue to be required to submit eligible student data via the secure P-EBT portal.

“This is great news for Ohio K-12 students and their families,” noted Management Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoffrey Andrews. “Families rely on the relief from the P-EBT program to help feed their school-age children. Ohio’s Information Technology Centers and the Management Council are pleased to do our part to help coordinate the data collection.”

For each reporting period, schools will need to supply detailed data for each eligible student under the Ohio Department of Education program guidelines, including the number of days per month each student is qualified. Schools will need to follow the data submission schedule for the 2020-21 school year:

  • February 2: data will include any eligible students not reported in August/September, and days for all eligible students for October, November, and December
  • March 11: data will include days for eligible students for January and February
  • May 13: data will include days for eligible students for March and April
  • July 8: data will include days for eligible students for May and June
